Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) of IIT (ISM) led by Prof JK Pattanayak, Director of the institute conductsvoter awareness campaign at the campus

The Voter Awareness Forum (VAF) of IIT (ISM) led by Prof JK Pattanayak, Director of the institute today
organized a voter awareness programme at the Penman Auditorium of the institute in presence of Shri
Raviraj Sharma, Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner as Chief Guest during which a host of programmes
including staging of street corner play, description about usage voter helpline app and Voter Registration
Form 6 were organized.
The programme began at the auditorium at 6.30 p.m. with the welcome address delivered by Prof Rajni Singh,
Dean (Corporate Communications) who apprised the gathering comprising of other Deans, HODs, faculty
members, officers, staff and students of the institute about the significance of exercising the franchise in
order to strengthen democracy.
Prof JK Pattanayak, Director IIT (ISM) during his address also appealed all the faculty members, officers and
staff to cast their votes and encourage their eligible family members to participate in election process.
Prof Sanjoy Modal, Associate Dean (Student Activities) during his address gave details of the awareness being
carried out by the institute inside the campus as well as outside the institute for the common people in
association with district administration.
He further said that a group of 16 students of the institute staged the street corner play near the Randhir
Verma Chowk on March 15, this year in association with the team of Systematic Voter’s Education for
Electoral Participation (SVEEP) cell of district administration.
Similar street corners plays are being staged across the campus, including towards the residential areas
besides the academic centers to as part of the awareness campaign.
The institute has also put selfie cut-outs, banners and posters, across the campus bearing the different
slogans aimed at apprising people about significance of participating in the electoral process and motivating
them to exercise their franchise.
A pledge taking ceremony was also organized on the occasion during which the participants of the
programme under the leadership of Shri Raviraj Sharma took oath to cast their votes during the upcoming
Lok Sabha Election scheduled in Jharkhand on May 26 and also encourage their eligible family members and
friends to participate in the election process.
The Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner while giving details about the Voters Helpline App and Form 6 Said
that if anyone is working here for more than six months and his name has not included in voter list then he
can include his name by filling up Voter Registration Form 6 or Online by using the Voter Helpline App.
